Merlin MRP College
Stock Control

Need some help?  That is what we are here for!

In this class we deal with the Merlin MRP Factory 9
Stock Control.

Merlin MRP Factory Stock Control

Click  Create or Ament RESOURCE RECORD CARDS... on the Merlin Home Screen.

You will then see this screen.  Note this item is flagged as Below Minimum stock. To the left of this flag, you will notice fields for Minimum Stock Level and Maximum Stock Level.  If you want this item to be managed by Stock Control, set these levels as appropriate.  If you want to take advantage of a Price Break (see the Suppliers tab) set the Minimum Purchase level accordingly.

Running Stock Control

From the Home Screen, click the Purchasing tab.

Second from the left in the top row you will see the Stock Control VIEW PROPOSED PURCHASES button.  Click this and Print or View the Proposed Purchase List generated according to the settings shown above.  If you are not happy with any of the proposals, go back to the Resource Record Card for the item(s) in question, and review the Minimum and Maximum Stock Levels and the Minimum Purchase figure, correcting any errors or omissions.  Then Print or View the Proposed Purchased List again.

When you are happy that all is in order, click the next button down, Stock Control RUN PURCHASING and this will print Purchase Orders for all the items on the most recent Proposed Purchase List, other than any where you have placed a STOP against the Supplier, or the item.

This is intended for controlling materials which you wish always to have on the shelf, rather than relying on JiT supplies procured by the MRP System, so should be run daily, weekly, or whatever is appropriate for your company's smooth procurement policy.
